About Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka (HISSL)

In 1997 the Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka (HISSL) had its inception as Medical Informatics Committee of the Sri Lanka Medical Association (SLMA), which is the oldest professional medical association in the Asia Pacific.

The Health Informatics Society of Sri Lanka in its present form was launched on 15th November 1998, with the idea of promoting the use of computers and information technology in teaching, learning, research and in the delivery of health care.

HISSL promotes continuous professional development of its members by organizing academic sessions, workshops and facilitating research and development in health informatics.

In keeping with the above objectives HISSL membership is open for medical doctors, dentists, nurses, para-medical and allied health science professionals and teachers and students of medical as well as technical universities.
